LANDIKOTAL: Scores of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) activists blocked Pak-Afghan Highway on Monday to record protest against the ban on the movement of non-custom paid (NCP) vehicles in the Khyber tribal district.
Holding banners and placards, the protesters blocked the Pak-Afghan Highway at the Landikotal Bypass. JUI-F leader Mufti Muhammad Ejaz and Qari Jihad Shah led the protest. Speaking on the occasion, Mufti Ejaz alleged the security forces were not allowing the NCP vehicles to cross the Bigyari checkpoint.
He said thousands of poor people were facing in trouble due to the ban on the vehicles’ movement as they were using NCP vehicles to earn bread for their families. Mufti Ejaz demanded the immediate lifting of the ban on the NCP vehicles’ movement in the Khyber district. The traffic resumed after three hours when Landikotal Tehsildar Asmatullah Wazir assured the protesters to convey their demand to the authorities concerned.
